Cookies Policy

1 . What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. They save bits of information—such as visitor preferences, session identifiers, or analytics tokens—that help a site load faster, remember choices, measure performance, and improve security. In this policy “we,” “our,” and “Site” refer to the Dominicus personal-portfolio template operated by Dominicus, Via Naples 24, 15023 Milano (MI), Italy. For cookie-related questions, email hello@dominicus.com.
2 . Why We Use Cookies
The Dominicus demo and live template place cookies to:
- keep the introductory banner dismissed after you click “Close”;
- store colour-scheme, language, or layout toggles during your session;
- compile anonymised usage statistics that reveal which sections attract the most interest, guiding design and performance improvements;
- detect and mitigate malicious behaviour (e.g., repeated failed login attempts) to maintain site integrity.
3 . Types of Cookies We Employ
- Strictly Necessary cookies route traffic, secure forms, and enable core preview pages. They are deleted when you close your browser and are essential for basic functionality.
- Performance / Analytics cookies collect anonymous metrics—page views, load times, and click paths—so I can refine the user experience. They remain active for up to twenty-six (26) months unless you clear them or withdraw consent sooner.
- Preference cookies remember your theme, language, or cookie-consent state. They persist for up to one (1) year to spare you from re-selecting options on every visit.
Only Strictly Necessary cookies load automatically; the rest are placed only after you grant explicit permission.
4 . Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies originate from services integrated into the template, such as Google Analytics, Vercel Analytics, YouTube, or Vimeo. These providers may combine anonymous data collected here with information you have supplied elsewhere. Each third party publishes its own policy explaining purposes, retention periods, and opt-out mechanisms.
5 . Obtaining Consent
On your first visit you will see a banner offering “Accept all” or “Manage settings.” Strictly Necessary cookies load at once because they are indispensable; Performance / Analytics and Preference cookies are stored only after you click “Accept” or enable them individually. You can withdraw or modify consent at any time by selecting “Cookie Settings” in the footer—your choices take effect immediately.
6 . Managing Cookies in Your Browser
Most browsers let you delete existing cookies or block future ones. Guides for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge explain the steps in detail. Please note that disabling Strictly Necessary cookies may break certain features, such as preview editing or form submissions.
7 . Do Not Track Signals
The Site currently does not respond to Do Not Track headers because no consistent industry standard exists. Instead, we honour the explicit selections you make through the consent banner and Cookie Settings panel.
8 . Other Tracking Technologies
In addition to cookies, we may use localStorage, sessionStorage, or pixel tags to achieve similar goals—remembering UI states or counting page impressions. These technologies follow the same consent, retention, and security principles described in Sections 2 through 6.
9 . Retention and Expiry
Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent analytics or preference cookies remain active for between one (1) month and one (1) year, unless you clear them manually or revoke consent sooner. After their designated lifespan, they delete automatically.
10 . Changes to This Policy
We review this Cookies Policy periodically to reflect legal requirements, feature enhancements, or supplier changes. Any significant amendment will display in the banner for returning visitors, and the “Last updated” date will change accordingly. Continued use of the Site after updates signals acceptance of the revised terms.
11 . Contact
To ask about cookie usage or exercise your data-protection rights, email hello@dominicus.com or write to Dominicus, Via Naples 24, 15023 Milano (MI), Italy. You may also contact the Italian supervisory authority (Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali) if you believe your rights have been infringed.
